Mr W F McLellan qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1975 having trained with Mackie & Clark. 

From 1975 to 1981 Fergus worked with Watson & Galbraith, at that time one of the largest independent

firms of chartered accountants in Scotland, where he was promoted to group audit manager. 

​

Watson & Galbraith was associated with the international firm of Spicer & Pegler who latterly became

part of Deloitte.

​

In 1981 he was invited to join the two partner practice of Brodie & Sutherland in Paisley becoming a partner in 1983.  This firm became associated with Milne Craig & Carson in Paisley in 1987 with him becoming a partner.

On the retiral of his original partners at Brodie & Sutherland he left to form his own practice McLellan & Co.
